December happenings!

Hello everyone!

I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas holiday and are ready to bring in the New Year. Our Christmas was awesome, we just stayed local and hung out with our families. This year we celebrated all month really. Dustin, Holly, and Paige all came up at the beginning of the month so that is when we decided to hold our annual Christmas party. We did dinner at our house and then shuffled out to my grandparents to have a visit with Santa and Mrs Claus. I cherish this tradition and look forward to it every year. My family is older and we haven't had younger children in attendance at this party in a long time. This year we had 3 young children and it was so much fun! Seeing their faces when Santa showed up and called their name was awesome! 

On Christmas Eve we just hung out and watched some movies-it was low key and stress free. Christmas day we opened presents at 630 in the morning...yes at 630. Bob was so impatient this year he wanted to open them at midnight the night before. I was lucky he let me sleep until 630. It was so cute to see him so excited for Christmas. I can't wait until we have children of our own and can spoil them on Christmas.  Later that day Bob's family came over and hung out for a majority of the day. We just had breakfast and watched a movie. It was so fun to get together with his family and it doesn't happen nearly enough. We ended the day in Tooele with my parents for Christmas dinner.

Other than that we have just been enjoying this winter season. earlier this month we went ice-skating at the Gallivan Center-it was so much fun! To me, it isn't winter time without going ice skating. Or seeing lights-we went to Temple square and zoo lights this month too. Zoo lights were awesome...except the fact that there weren't any animals out. nothing! I expected the safari ones to be in hiding but I thought there would be something out. It was only $6.00 for Bob and I to go (Thursday special) and we got to hang out with some of my co-workers. Overall it was the perfect night.

It is surreal that 2016 is almost over! We had a pretty good 2016 and I wouldn't change it for anything. The biggest thing that happened was obviously our house. We have loved being homeowners and I hope that never changes. I am one who loves making and trying to keep resolutions, and when I looked over our resolutions from last year I was impressed. We really completed a lot of our goals and I am so happy to start again with new ones. I love the new year, there is just something magical about the new year that makes me so happy!

#lighttheworld

December is here and that means Christmas is soon upon us. Many times we all get caught up in the presents and material things of Christmas and forget about the real meaning. We are all guilty of this, myself included. This year the LDS church is putting together a movement titled #lighttheworld, it is centered around our Savior and will allow people to become closer to him in just over 25 days. Each day there is a message and an activity for us to do to bring others into the light of Christ. I encourage everyone to look into this-whether you are LDS or not. The Holiday season is a hard time of year for a lot of people around us. Taking the time to serve our fellow neighbors can go a long way. For you and them! Jazz game and other happenings!

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, I know we did! This year we just stayed local and went to my uncle's house. It was low key and very fun! It was weird however, that none of my siblings were in attendance. My two sisters were with their significant others families, and my brother was on base in Texas. We got to  Face-time him though and that was awesome! I miss him so much and wish he could come home for the Holidays. We did get to find out the sex of my future niece or nephew...they were going to wait until Christmas morning but let's be honest who could wait that long to find out such exciting news! I was so excited when I found out....

Being an aunt is such an awesome experience and I am so grateful that I get the opportunity to be one! I can't wait to spoil the little man just like we have Paige.

Alright let's rewind to the beginning of this month. Bob surprised me and took me to a Jazz game!!!!!!! I love Jazz games! I was so excited! We played the Memphis Grizzlies, it was a tough game and we lost but it was still way worth it!

The seats were pretty high up, but it didn't matter!

This month was full of family activities-which I loved! One Saturday we wanted to go bowling and wanted to go as a group with someone. We decided to call my parents (lame I know) but they are so close and it had been a while since we had seen them. Plus with my brother gone and my sister almost graduated and spends most time with her boyfriend they are practically empty nesters. My mom gladly agreed to go with us and it turns out that Hailey and her boy wanted to come too! It was so fun and it reminded me how bad of a bowler my mom is...she is really bad. Bob is a bowler on the side apparently because he was the best out of all of us! It was a really fun night and we will be doing it again very soon.

Other than that, you are all caught up and current with the Kane family! We are just trying to finish out this semester so we can party for Christmas! Bob has been such a champ this semester helping me keep my sanity and I will be forever grateful for how much he has helped me! Hopefully by our next post we will have more snow and less school! Happy Birthdays, Hunting, and Halloween!

Well, this post is super late but better late than never.....this time of year is just so busy and we have so much going on! Here is a quick update on how the rest of our October went. If you missed our first October post you can read it here.

Happy Birthdays:
This year for birthdays we decided that we wanted to  go out of town. Our St George trip and my Yellowcard concert were our birthday celebrations. On our birthdays we did spend time together-we went duck hunting on Bob's birthday and we went to a movie for my birthday! We both got to go to dinner on our birthdays too. They were just really chill birthdays and that is how I like it. I did decorate the house though, and I am so glad that our birthdays are the same week so I only have to decorate once!

Deer hunt:

This year the deer hunt was so fun! They are always fun but this year was more epic than any year in the past. For the first time in a long time all of Bob's family came, which meant I got to spend so much time with his cute little sister and I loved it! Opening day treated us good, we had a total of 8 tags and within the first hour we had 4 of them filled. We have never had that good of luck EVER! It was awesome! I didn't get one but Bob did and I am so happy for him! It was a whole new experience for me-cleaning, gutting, skinning...hunting is hard work. We tried at the end of the day to go get me something but they were nowhere to be seen. I think one deer will be good enough for us this year, but next year it's my turn to get something.

Halloween:

This year for Halloween we decided to throw a party! I love Halloween so this was the perfect thing for us to do! We have such a big backyard that we decided to have the party outside. We watched a movie from a projector and also had a fire where we roasted mallows and just had an awesome time! It was just a family party but sometimes those are the best kind to have. For Halloween this year we decided to dress up as Rick Grimes and a walker from The Walking Dead! We are obsessed with The Walking Dead so it was the perfect costume. I had a great time dressing up and honestly can't wait until next Halloween! We loved that his brother and Fiance came out, it is going to be so fun having them around for double dates!

We ended the night playing a round of clue with those who were too cold and needed to warm up!

That is about all the excitement October brought us, I love October and I hate when it has to end! I do however love this time of year and the things that it brings. November is an awesome month for us because everyday we share something that we are grateful for. I love doing this each day and it always intrigues me to listen to the things that Bob is grateful for. It makes me happy to know that he is always keeping a good perspective on life! October happenings

Keeping up on this blog has been harder than I anticipated! I have a fun time writing posts but finding the motivation to write is a whole other story. I finally have the time and motivation to give you an update in the Kane life. It has sure been a busy month for us but October always is! I love October, by the way, it is by far my favorite month of the whole year. We just always have soooo much going on and there is never a dull moment.

October 1st-2nd:

This was a fantastic weekend for  two reasons-opening day of the duck hunt and general conference. I love when general conference comes around because it just builds me up so much! I always feel better after watching general conference. We invited our good friends, the Fords, over for Sunday breakfast; it was so fun having them over. It was an awesome experience to watch conference in our first official home. I can't quite explain it but to know that this is the place we are going to start our family and watch conference for years to come is just humbling and I am so blessed.

I very much enjoyed the opening day of the duck hunt. I never ever thought in a million years that I would be a hunting girl....it's funny what hobbies you develop because they are your husband's hobbies. Sharing his excitement and love for hunting brings me joy. I didn't shoot anything but he did and that is what matters. The weather was beautiful and even thought that is terrible duck hunting weather it worked for me. 

October 5th:

This day was probably the hardest day in October...maybe the hardest day of my life...my brother Harley got called to active duty and will most likely be deployed within the next few months maybe sooner. I am so proud of him and for his willingness to serve our county. I never thought I would ever have a family member in the service but now I do. It has been hard for me to accept that he might be deployed and that he will be in harms way. I am grateful for the technology we have that allows me to call him whenever I want. I know that our Heavenly Father will watch over him and comfort me until he gets home safely.

October 14th-16th:

This weekend we went hunting-yet again. This time it was with family on my grandmas side and it was for coyotes. Bob loves shooting coyotes and unfortunately they didn't see any in the area we were in. It was still a fun weekend camping and being outdoors. I love being outdoors and camping is my favorite thing to do!

October 21st-23rd:

This weekend was my fall break at SLCC, it also happened to be the weekend that my sweet husband and sister decided to surprise me with Yellowcard tickets to their last ever tour! I was ecstatic and couldn't believe they would do this for me! We drove down to St George on Thursday so we wouldn't be rushed Friday for the concert. Holly and and just made a girls day out of Friday and went to dinner before we drove down to the concert. The two opening bands were ok they weren't my favorite. When Yellowcard came on though it was awesome! They played a ton of songs and were unforgettable. I am still on cloud nine and am seriously contemplating going to their show here in Salt Lake on the 28th. I love Yellowcard and cannot believe they are done playing. I will be forever grateful for my husband and sister for taking me to this concert.

Saturday we spent the day seeing friends and crossing things off our St George to do list which included:

Babysitting Paige (we took her to the splash pad and rode the carousel too)

Eating at Durangos (so yummy)

Seeing his sweet grandpa Kane in Beaver Dam

Going to the Staheli Farm corn maze (it never disappoints)

And just soaking up as much sunshine as possible!

This upcoming week we are definitely staying busy. Bob's birthday is tomorrow, and on Friday we leave for our annual deer hunt in Blanding. Monday is my birthday and then next weekend we are throwing a Halloween party! I wasn't lying when I said our October is packed! I can't wait to see what this week brings! It's Fall, Ya'll

That's right folks! Fall is upon us and this girl could not be more excited! I've always been a fall girl, October is the best month of the year-in my opinion. Plus this weather is something to smile about...for now!

I love everything listed above 

This past week has been very busy! For starters, my sweet sister came up for a week long visit! I love when she comes up North and I wish we lived closer to see each other more often. When we made the decision to move from St George that was the hardest part-leaving my sister once again (the first time I did it was when I moved to St George in 2009). We have been apart for 2 years now and it still hasn't gotten any easier. I tried to spend as much time with her and Paige as I could. That little Paige is so grown up now and I just love her. We spent one night together just playing outside and then playing in the bath! We sang songs, and played hide and seek. It was blast! We also got to go to the zoo! Finally! I've been begging Bob all summer to take me but we just haven't had the time. I was thrilled to go with my mom, sisters, and of course little Paige! My favorite part was taking Paige on the carousel-she absolutely loves ridding the carousel! She gets the biggest smile and is so giggly when she rides it. Such a fun moment for me to experience.

It really was the best way to spend a Saturday! I wish there were more like it! The rest of the week was definitely unexpected! I woke up Monday and my throat felt weird. It wasn't sore but more like congested. I didn't really think anything of it and then Tuesday I was sick! I had a head cold from down under. I was feeling pretty crappy, I had to go to math because it was my day to lead the class of course. I came home and realized that my ears were not popping and were starting to hurt. Most times when I get sick I always get an ear infection-and those require antibiotics which requires a prescription. So dang I figured I better go to the instacare, and sure enough my ears were not draining and were indeed infected. He gave me a prescription AND strict bed rest orders for two days! I had to work the following night and was freaking out that I was going to have to call in sick. Believe it or not I've never called in sick to work during my time here at IHC...I just never have. So I called in sick to work, school, and said peace to my chores for a couple of days. I watched the whole 5 season of New Girl (wasn't too impressed but still enjoyed it), and slowly got better. I went back to work on Friday and wasn't 100% better but at least I could be out of bed for more than an hour without wanting to die.

Since Friday I have had to catch up on everything that didn't get taken care of while I was out of commission. Bob tried his best to keep up on the house work but he had two church meetings, (Oh he was recently put in as the Elders Quorum 1st councilor, so happy for him!)1 work meeting and was also getting a little sick himself. So Saturday we cleaned and then decided to go out to dinner, we chose to go out to Texas Roadhouse with my sweet grandparents. It wasn't much but we loved our little sick free date night. Bob also surprised me with a new shot gun! The opening day of the duck hunt is October 1st and he really wanted me to have my own shot gun for that day! He is always so thoughtful and kind. I am so excited for this hunting season-I have two new guns, and a tag! I hope we have a successful year!

Trying something new!

It has been forever since I have done a published blog post...I have many that I have started to write but never finish...I suck. Recently I have had some promptings I guess you could say, that I need to start writing again. I thought that was a weird a prompting to get but one of my other fellow bloggers recently returned to the blogging world because she had promptings about it. I thought well shoot I am not the only one! Plus those stupid Facebook memories that I get every day are always filled with blog entries from my college blog. I love re-reading about all the experiences I had in college. I am so grateful that I have those memories to look back on.

Bob and I are in our first years of marriage and I want to always have these memories to look back on. I am so upset that it has taken this long to get back to my dear old blog. I don't know why I ever got out of the habit of blogging but I am going to try my hardest to get back into it!

Just a quick update:

• We are still both working at IHC-it's an awesome company and we love it. I'm still in the courier department-I actually hit my 7 year mark this month...wow! I am still doing my dispatching thing at night. Bob is now a security officer at Primary Childrens, he works days and we both love that. Before he was working swings and we hardly saw each other. 
• We still have the  two dogs Ali and Ava and want a third...OK I want another puppy but they are so cute so can you blame me? 

• I am still on track to becoming a teacher, I have two more semester of pre-requisites and then I will be in the program. I'm so excited to finally be at that stage in my schooling where I am in the program and not just still doing those pesky pre-requisites. 
• The biggest update is that we bought a house! It's been ours for the two months and we are in love! It is the perfect house for us and we were so blessed to find it! It has the biggest yard ever and our dogs love it. It has so much potential and we are excited to make it what we want. The yard came with a garden area and I can't wait till next spring to start planting stuff and I hope I have a green thumb. We casually started the house hunt at the beginning of the year since our apartment contract was up in May and we really didn't want to resign. We thought about renting a house but no one would take our pets so we then seriously started looking to buy in April and found this one in May! We had a couple of hiccups during the closing process due to repairs that had to be made but we finally signed our life away and are now real adults with a water bill. I seriously have never had a water bill and it freaked me out at the beginning because I didn't know how much it would cost especially with our yard but it's not that bad. The house is in Magna Utah and we love it there. We have been driving around trying to find out where everything is and every day we fall more in love with this little town. Our ward is amazing and we got lucky. I am so glad to be done renting and done with the house buying process. It wasn't so bad until the end with all the hiccups but it was still stressful.

Other than that we are just living our life and having a good time doing it. We are just trying to plan our fall activities since summer is over, It just flew right by and I can't believe that fall is just right around the corner. I've really come to love the fall season and all it entails so I'm OK with summer being over so I can enjoy a season that I love with the man that I love!

What's up Wednesday

Today I felt like doing a mid-week post, I just got out of a meeting and have some time while I wait for my train. No better time to write then when I am bored!

What we loved about the last week

This past week was a good one! There are many things that we loved about this past week. First off it was my week off! The first couple of days we had the crazy thought to paint a room in my grandparents house. They were getting new carpet at the end of the week and their house hasn't been painted since....the dawn of time. All jokes aside it has been a very long time. Bob and I really wanted to get it done for them and I can proudly say that we did! It looks so good and my grandma just loved it-I am definitely the favorite child now!

Last weekend my sister and her cute little family came into town! I always love when they come visit! Friday afternoon Holly, Paige, and I went shopping at the gateway mall! It was so fun to have a girls day! Saturday we celebrated my grandpas birthday. That sweet old man deserves the world and I am trying to give it to him! Our family would be nothing without him and I am grateful for him everyday.

What we have learned this past week

Bob and I went to the Temple on Tuesday, we have been meaning to go the past couple of weeks but haven't made it a priority. This week I told him we are marking it on the calendar and going! Man am I glad we did! Bob has never been to the Bountiful Temple so that was a neat experience alone. I always love how I feel in the Temple and when I come out of the Temple too! One thing I felt/learned was that we need to make our home feel like a Temple! I am not perfect and the spirit is not always as strong as it should be in our home! I want to make the spirit strong 24-7 like the Temple! This a hard task but I have accepted it and can't wait to get started! I have already read different articles and can't wait to implement them in our home.

Goal for the week

This week I have two very specific goals that I need to work on-like really work on them. I am hoping if I post them I will be more likely to work on them! The first is simple-less screen time and more everything else time. I literally go through these phases where I am glued to my social media. For some reason I am in that phase now! I don't know how to permanently stop that from happening. I would hate to delete my social media (starting with Facebook because I love Instagram wayyyy to much) I hope I can just stop without getting rid of the social media, we will see!

My second goal is to exercise more. Ugh...exercising. Even saying that word makes me tired and I shut down. I always wonder why people smoke and how they just can't see its effects and stop. The same thing applies to me not working out, I see the effects in myself and those around me but somehow I ignore it. I am done! I need to make it a priority and stop being lazy! 

What we have been day dreaming of

With it being summertime and all we the Kane's have been day dreaming about going camping!! Or even just having a fire and roasting mallows! We drove through a couple canyons this past weekend and have some ideas of where to go! We are going in two weeks if anyone wants to join! We are either going to Ogden, Hyrum or Provo! I can't event wait!

Our latest obsession

The weather has been fantastic this past week and all we have wanted to do was be out doors. We live across the street from a really nice and really big city park! We have been over there multiple times this week. We walk Ali mostly but we have found a new hobby-frisbee! We love throwing the frisbee to each other! We are almost obsessed with the frisbee it's crazy!

What else is new

My only brother is done with high school now and has joined the military. I shed a tear or two every time I think about it! I am so proud of him and am going to miss him this summer when he is at boot camp! We are having a party for him on the 27th and he leaves for 5 months on the 28th. I won't see my brother again until Thanksgiving maybe even Chrismas.  It's hard but I know that what he is doing is right and is for the good of our Country.

1 year photo shoot

We recently got our 1 year pictures back and can I just tell you they were AMAZING! I absolutely loved every single picture and edit that our photographer did. We took these pictures in Tooele at a place called Spiers Farm. It's more of a garden than a farm as you can tell from our pictures. We loved Spiers Farm and all the beautiful things it had to offer and how wonderful our pictures turned out! See for yourself:

Our photographer is actually one of my really good friends from High School, Paige. She is an amazing photographer and will probably be our photographer for life...well as long as she is taking pictures anyway! She took our Christmas photos too and they were so great. She will also be taking our family photos sometime this summer so that will be awesome. If you ever need a photographer I highly recommend her. She is on Facebook at Paige Photography. Look her up.

I still can't believe that we have been married for over a year now! Bob still continues to amaze me everyday and I am so grateful that I get to keep him for eternity! Thanks for keeping up with the Kanes!
