Life as we Know it

There are weeks in our life where not much happens but I still want to write, so I stole an idea from another blog and am trying it out tonight. Basically I am just answering some prompts, I love these prompts because they update you on our life so perfectly. Here goes nothing!

What we loved about the last week

This week has been hard because I have been working since Wednesday night and Bob was sick for two days. There were a couple of things we loved about last week though. First off, Bob passed a two week course in two days! He will be starting his machining program on Monday and couldn't be more excited. We also have been loving the beautiful weather and have been taking nightly walks together.

What we are looking forward to

Obviously we are looking forward to Bob starting his program. I am looking forward to Wednesday when I am off for seven days. We also have our anniversary pictures on Friday that we are so excited for! We bought my outfit and some props today, now we just need his outfit and a definite location. Bob and I both promised that getting pictures professionally each year would be a priority, so far so good.

What we are craving

Lately we have been craving two things- a Malibu (Dr Pepper, coconut, and vanilla) drink from Swig and an orange freeze from Atlantis Burger! When Bob passed his class we had to celebrate, I asked him what he wanted and of all things he wanted a freeze. They are so good! They are like a float but more blended together. I want one as I write this.

What we are watching

Currently I am watching: How I met your mother-just started season 9, The Following with Kevin Bacon, and I can't forget Law and Order: SVU...the latest episode is so intense watch it! Bob isn't much of a TV guy but he is really into this USA original DIG. He loves it and patently waits every Thursday for it to come on. 

We wanted to get a red box last night but wasn't sure what they had. We checked and holy moly there are so many good ones that we haven't seen or just want to see again! Dumb and dumber to, Into the Woods, Beyond the lights, Fox Catcher, and the Best of Me. Those are just a few that we will be watching this week!

What we are doing this weekend

This weekend is going to be awesome! Bob has a three day weekend, so Friday we are doing our pictures and probably going out after. Friday is also the day that the Merrill family is coming to visit!!!! I can not wait to see my sister! It's only been a month but I miss her so much! I don't know all the plans but I do know that my mom wrangled everyone together to go to a Grizzly hockey game Saturday night. I haven't been to a hockey game since high school so I am stoked. Sunday is Easter so we are doing a big family breakfast and probably hiding some eggs for Paige to find! It will probably be more fun for us but we will see. 

What else is new

We found out on Friday that Bob can't get the time off for our anniversary, so we are bummed about having to postpone that. We are doing something the weekend of our anniversary (which is in 2 weeks..so crazy!) so that will be fine for now! Other than that we are doing great, Thanks for keeping up with the Kanes!

Spring has Sprung

The weather lately has very beautiful, my favorite part is all the trees that now have flowers on them! I love that all throughout my neighborhood I see those pink and white flowered trees. This warmer weather also gets me excited for summer! If you didn't know, we the Kanes LOVE camping, shooting, hiking, and anything else outdoors. Like for instance, last week the weather was so perfect that we went fishing at Bountiful Pond. Even though we didn't catch anything-but mosquitos-we still had a great time. One of these days I will be able to fish myself and maybe show Bob what a good fisherman I am. For now I just cheer him on and do my dad's fish clap to bring in the fish. This time we took Ali with us, she had such a good time and she even got in the water a little.

Even though we love being outdoors, our second favorite hobby is going to the movies. Bob spoiled me and took me to see the new Cinderella movie. We both loved it and agreed to buy it when it came out. If you usually doubt the Disney real life remakes this one is not one to doubt. It was pretty accurate and really well done.

When Bob started his new Job in February he decided to take some time off from school to focus on his new responsibilities. Well he figures now is a good time and he starts back up on Monday! I am so proud of him, he only has one pre-requisite left and then he will be in the Machining program. This weekend he is at a Paintball event in Las Vegas, I love that he has a hobby and that he gets to go play all the time but I miss him. I get so sad when he leaves and am a little down the whole time he is gone. Luckily he is only gone for two days this time and I am working all day to pass the time.

I think that this quote is so true. Sometimes I take Mr. Kane for granted and when he leaves it helps me realize how much I love and need him. He comes back tomorrow night and that time can't come soon enough! Thanks for Keeping up with the Kanes.

Paige turns 1!

March! When I say March it just makes my heart happy. March means Spring is here!!! I love this time of year, the transition from winter to spring is amazing. I just love the warmer part of the year and all that comes with it. So far March has been great, the 2nd was Papa Kanes birthday. Bob and I rounded up two of his siblings and we all took his dad out for dinner. It is so nice to have us all so close now, a few months ago we weren't even all in the same state! That night was also memorable because there was this huge snow storm!! We haven't had that much snow since Christmas...you think that's sarcastic but it's not. That night at work I had to drive to McKay-Dee medical center in Ogden and it was the worst road conditions I have seen in years. It was terrible and I hated every minute of that drive.

The 4th was miss Paige Elise's birthday!! I still can't believe that she is now 1, for me that was such a quick year. It's weird to think that my sweet sister has a one year old now. but at the same time it's not. It's just a normal thing, it's almost hard to imagine them without a baby now. Bob and I face-timed Paige that night to tell her happy birthday, every picture and face-time she just gets bigger and bigger.

We went to St George the 6th-8th for her birthday party that Holly did such an awesome job planning. We got there Friday night and hung out with our dear friends the Eves, we went to dinner and then just watched a movie at their house. It was so nice to hang out with them again just like old times. Saturday we woke up and went to breakfast with my family, then we went to see Bob's sweet old grandpa Kane in Beaver Dam. I love that sweet old man!! He was so happy to see us and even gave us each a bag of popcorn for the road! It was the funniest thing ever when he did that, did I mention I just love him? One of my favorite things to do in St George is to see grandpa Kane.

After we left grandpa Kane we went to Paige's party. We got there early so I just helped Holly get everything ready to go. It was such a cute party and she will be doing my kid's parties in the future. When everyone arrived we just hung out, watched her open presents. and watched her eat cake. She was so graceful about it and just ate it at her own pace-so cute. It was just great to be with my family and celebrate with Paige. Living so far apart we don't get many chances to see each other so I am really glad that we were able to go down there for the weekend.

This past Tuesday Bob and I really wanted to go to a movie! Since I didn't have mutual or work we jumped into the car and went to see American Sniper. I have heard so much about this movie and everything with it so we just had to see it. It was so good! I am so grateful for our troops. I always have been, but movies like this one just put a whole new perspective on what they have to endure. I couldn't do it. I couldn't be a military wife either. I admire those who do it every day.

Other than that, there is not much going on with us, We are just working so hard right now and can't wait for our Anniversary Vacation next month. We were going to go on a cruise but decided to spend a week in Phoenix Arizona instead. We found an awesome cruise that we will go on next year and didn't want to do the same thing two years in a row. I have briefly been to Phoenix and Bob has never been so that was the deciding factor. We are also stopping at the Grand Canyon for a couple of days! That is what I am most excited for and I wish it was here already! Thanks for keeping up with the Kanes!

February Wrap up

February was pretty good to the Kanes: a trip to Idaho, Valentines, Bob started a new job, and much much more. Since our last post, I did decide to cut my hair...I cut off 3". No that's not a lot but it took care of my split ends and I fixed my layers so they are more even now too. Over all I feel much better and loved getting it cut. As you can see I didn't cut much off but enough to make a difference.

 

One night Bob really wanted a treat, but nothing sounded good to him. He wanted more than our usual go to stuff. Well when I was little we used to go to Paces Dairy Ann here in bountiful, and we would get Rainbows. What is a Rainbow you ask? It's basically vanilla ice cream covered in any flavor slush! They are so good!! I suggested that and he was all for it! That will now be one of our usual treats.

I am still loving Young Womens! One Tuesday for mutual we did an activity called 'where's waldo'. 3 of the leaders-myself included-had to dress up someway so that you were disguised. We then went to the mall and tried to fit in so the girls wouldn't be able to spot us. We hid for 1 hour and then unveiled ourselves. I was found by all but one group! It was really a lot of fun and got me out of my comfort zone for sure. Here is a crazy picture that I sent to Bob while I was hiding...don't judge me! In March we have more activities that will be bringing me out of my comfort zone, stay tuned!

Bob is still enjoying his being a scout leader. One Friday night, we had the opportunity to go to a scout banquet, since bob is one of the scout leaders in the ward the bishop felt we should be there. To be honest it we were not really needed. I thought it was going to be like an award banquet type thing with scouts from our ward but it wasn't. It was an award banquet for like 7 older men. I forget what the award was but not a single youth was mentioned. It was a good experience because I learned how important scouting is and the catering was really good! They also have a camp out coming up that he is so excited for. I just love him, he's such a good example to the scouts and there is no one better for the calling. 

Since we moved up north, every month we have tried to get together with my uncle Troy and his family. Well one Sunday we went to his house and had dinner. We just ate and talked, it was a perfect Sunday night. My aunt also showed me her bed set from IKEA and I fell in love! Christmas or next years tax returns we are getting a new bed set...it's already decided! Maybe not decided but it's on our wish list. Bob has wanted a bigger bed since day one-he claims I hog the bed...but I think its him who hogs the bed. We currently have a queen but wouldn't mind a king. We will see!
